

On July 23, 2025, a delegation from the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) visited the Faculty of Education at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). The delegation included three members: Dr. Lexie C. Estacio, from the Office of the Vice President for Faculty Affairs; Melissa Antoinette C. Garcia, School Director of the UA&P CDE Center; and Shelesh Marie A. Fadri, Center Administrative Officer.
The visit was warmly hosted by the Consortium for Research on Early Childhood Development and Education (CORE) at HKU. Deputy Director Dr. Diana Lee and research assistant Jichen Liu led the delegation on a campus tour, showcasing iconic landmarks such as the Centennial Campus Red Wall, the Main Building, and the East Gate, all of which reflect HKU’s rich heritage and academic tradition.
Following the tour, Dr. Diana Lee provided a comprehensive overview of the curriculum system related to early childhood development and education at HKU’s Faculty of Education. She highlighted the Bachelor of Education (ECE&SE) programme, detailing its objectives, curriculum design, and unique features. Additionally, PGDE (ECE) programme coordinator Dr. Rhoda Wang and MEd (ECE) programme coordinator Prof. Carrie Lau briefly introduced their respective programmes.
Prof. Lau and Dr. Wang also shared insights into CORE’s ongoing projects and achievements within the local context. Their presentation highlighted the impactful research and initiatives undertaken by CORE in early childhood development and assessment. Dr. Lee also highlighted CORE’s initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region, emphasizing the extensive regional collaborations.
The visit fostered mutual understanding and paved the way for promising future collaborations between the two institutions. Both sides expressed strong enthusiasm for strengthening their partnership and exploring joint initiatives to advance research in early childhood development and education.
