Title: Like Father Like Son? The Intergenerational Transmission of Gender Role Attitudes in China
Introduction: This paper examines intergenerational transmission of gender role attitudes among three generations of a family using data from the national longitudinal survey, China Family Panel Studies. Preliminary analysis reveals trends of increasing egalitarian attitudes in later cohorts, with stronger gender role transmission observed from parent to child compared to grandparents to grandchild.

Title: Progress in Ameliorating Stunting in India: Trends in Prevalence and Social Determinants
Introduction: This project leveraged data from the three most recent rounds of the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) to assess trends in stunting prevalence change between 2005-2021 and examine the extent to which social factors predict stunting.

Title: Parental expectations of early childhood education in Hong Kong: Differences between Chinese and Pakistani Parents
Introduction: This study examined the differences in parental expectations of early childhood education between Chinese and Pakistani parents in Hong Kong. The moderating roles of child's gender and family socioeconomic status in the relationship were also examined.

Title: Social Learning in Families: Maternal Cognitive Mind-Mindedness and Maternal Time Predict Children's Inhibitory Control
Introduction: This presentation is about the predictions of maternal use of mind-related comments and the time mothers spent on taking care of the child to the development of inhibitory control skills throughout toddlerhood in Chinese families. The presentation demonstrates how social learning processes occur naturally in mother-child interactions in the family context. The attached is a photo from this symposium.
Title: No Evidence Supports the New 'Useless Education Theory
Introduction: This presentation is about inequalities in parents' education aspirations across six years in China pertaining to variations in different social-demographical-economic factors. The presentation demonstrates a modest increase in Chinese parents' educational aspirations over historical time and narrowed variations in educational aspirations for Chinese parents from different backgrounds. Title: Socioeconomic Disparities in Chinese Children’s First-grade Academic Achievement: The Mediating Role of Early Learning Experiences
Introduction: This study investigates educational inequality among Chinese preschool-aged children and understands the mechanisms through which family SES influences first-grade academic achievement. It highlighted two significant processes through which families foster the child’s learning abilities during preschool years—the home and preschool learning experiences.

Title: Developmental Status of Young Children in China: Findings from Parent Report and Direct Assessment
Introduction: This study examined the psychometric properties of the Early Childhood Development Index 2030 (ECDI2030) in measuring children’s developmental status in China and compared it with a direct assessment measure.

Title: Socioeconomic Status, Home Learning Environment, Parental Absence, and Academic Achievement: An 8-year Longitudinal Study in China
Introduction: The current study utilized data from the 2010 and 2018 waves of the China Family Panel Studies (CFPS), suggesting that early family socioeconomic status was positively associated with children's literacy and mathematics scores eight years later. The results varied between rural and urban areas and children's migration statuses.
