– CORE Members Attended the 12th OMEP Asia-Pacific Conference

Professor Nirmala Rao and the PhD candidate, Gong Jing, Joann, attended the 12th OMEP Asia-Pacific Conference in Sydney, Australia, from Dec. 6 to Dec. 8, 2023. This Conference, themed Looking Back, Moving Forward: Progressing the UN Sustainable Development Goals in the Asia-Pacific Region, attracted more than 200 delegates from more than 10 OMEP member countries/regions.

Professor Nirmala Rao gave the keynote speech titled Measuring Global Progress in Meeting Sustainable Development Goal Target 4.2 at the conference, pointing out that inadequate data and assessment methods were two challenges to measuring our global progress towards SDG Target 4.2. She calls for high-quality and reliable data to monitor the progress towards SDG targets globally, which is the foundation of evidence-based policy-making. Miss Gong Jing, Joann, gave a poster presentation at the conference, demonstrating her study’s findings with Professor Nirmala Rao and introducing the development and validation of the Chinese Home Learning Environment Scale for preschool-aged children.

CORE will keep sharing knowledge and research findings with the world, promoting equity and quality of early childhood education with researchers worldwide together.
